I was honored when this little guy's mommy contacted me to do his newborn session. Both of our oldest boys are in the same preschool class together, so of course I was more than happy to snuggle the newest member of the family! I came to their home on Sunday morning when baby Nolan was 4 days old, and he was a dream! He is going to have so much fun growing up with his 2 older brothers, Louie and Ryder. Beautiful Keira was the perfect little model when she came to visit me at 7 days old. I feel so blessed that I will get to photograph her again when she is able to sit and for her first birthday since she is on my Watch Me Grow Plan! Mom and Dad did not find out what they were having beforehand, so we didn't have specific colors planned. Once I knew it was a girl, I had a vision with mint, peach, and cream, and thankfully Keira's mommy approved! I think I got Keira's approval too with all these adorable smiles she gave me! People always ask me if they need to bring anything for a session, and the answer is no. I have everything I need to make your session special. However, if you'd like to bring something of your own, maybe sentimental, just give me a head's up so I can figure out how to incorporate it ahead of time. People also frequently ask where I get some of my hats/headbands so they can purchase their own to keep, so I think I will start to list them with each session. White pearl headband, peach wrap and headband, and teddy hat from The Tiny Blessings Boutique, peach headband from Bonnetique, large peach flower/white headband from The Indy Cottage Prop Shop, and cream outfit from Cute as Can Be Props (look for the outfit again as it came as a set with a matching sitter outfit!). Two weekends ago, on Valentine's Day, I had the pleasure of meeting this little peanut, baby Penelope at 11 days old, along with her wonderful parents. She was born 4 weeks early and was a mere 4.5/5lbs when I saw her. But, look at how she just fits in mom and dad's arms so perfectly! I always say that newborn photography is so important because you will want to remember all those tiny details and babies grow so unbelievably quickly that they will never fit in your arms quite the same as they do within the first couple of weeks. Capture those memories!! Baby Connor was the last newborn I had in the studio before this blizzard hit, so I'm a little late in posting since we were outside trying to shovel 30 inches of snow, plus try to spend some time with kids in the snow. Hopefully his parents won't be too upset with me once they see these! I mean, look at this cutie pie! I think he has the most perfect little button nose ever, and he even smiled for the camera during family shots! *swoon!!* Last weekend I got some more baby snuggles in with this little guy, baby Ryder. He was so tiny, such a great sleeper, and super adorable. I didn't want him to leave! Mom and Dad share my love of neutrals, so I was happy to use them throughout his session. But, we did make sure to put some blue in there! He really was a rock star for his first photo shoot, and narrowing down the choices of what pictures to include in his gallery has been nearly impossible. Little Miss Avery has been my only girl in a winter streak of boys, and there's only more boys to come. With her peaches and cream skin, chubby cheeks, and strawberry blond hair, she is just the most perfect bundle of joy! It was a pleasure to be invited into the C family's home for her very first photo shoot and Avery was the perfect sleepy lady! Oh my goodness, isn't little Eden just simply adorable?! She came to the studio in Kennett Square last weekend to celebrate her first birthday with a cake smash. Mom did Baby-Led-Weaning with her, something I followed with my own daughter, so Eden knew what to do with that cake right away! Mmmmm, icing! She may have been super serious about her eating, but other than that, she was all full of smiles and personality! The rate at which my business grew this year is beyond my comprehension. When I started in July/August I assumed I would get maybe 1 or 2 clients a month, doing this more as a hobby. I don't think there is any way I could have imagined having 30 full-session clients and 18 mini-session clients in a matter of 5 months. My January 2016 also has 4 newborns and a sitter milestone session booked. I also have clients already booked in April, APRIL! These last two months have been extremely hard for my family with me going from a full-time mom to a busy business-owner, 2 unexpected deaths of close relatives (my grandfather and aunt), and illness after illness for my kids, BUT, I still seriously feel extremely blessed and fortunate! I LOVE what I do and I LOVE all my wonderful clients who are supporting me in this journey. Something else I LOVE is when I finally get a chance to take pictures of my own children. This is my daughter, 15 months old, and her first time at the indoor children's water area at Longwood Gardens. We were there for breakfast with Santa (which did not go well - she only screamed and did not want to go near him, much to our disappointment, oh well...), so thankfully I had my camera with me when we decided to quickly stop over at the Conservatory. The excitement and pure joy on her face made all the stress of the last couple of months just disappear. And, once I finally got these images on my computer, I was able to relive that moment all over again. This is what photographs do - they freeze a moment in time, a moment you can look back on year after year, and they make you smile. I wish I could say we will all live forever, but we won't, so make as many memories as you can today. Take pictures, have your picture taken, capture those memories, and get those pictures printed - BIG and ON YOUR WALL! Life can change in a blink of an eye, book your session today and let your memories live on in beautiful photographs! Thank you to all my past, present, and future clients. I LOVE you all and I LOVE your support! Last week I went back to Lancaster, PA to photograph a former co-workers new baby boy, Connor. Born more than a week early at only 6lbs 1oz, he was teeny tiny and reminded me of my own peanuts when they were born. But, he was a much better sleeper! In fact I think he was my sleepiest, most easy going baby so far. He only woke up when we went upstairs to his nursery for parent shots. Mom and Dad sure are blessed with this little bundle of joy! Come on now, just look at that adorableness!! I wish I could share more of the fantastic holiday set-ups we did, but Mom is saving them as a surprise for their holiday cards. ;-) For those of you on their list, get ready for the cuteness overload! Last weekend I was lucky enough to photograph the wonderful B Family. Mom wanted a rustic country barn-feel to the session so we headed out to the Myrick Center. It was super cold that day, but in-between running for jackets and warm hugs, we managed to get some incredible shots. I really could have photographed them all day because they were so easy to work with and fabulous! I had a hard time narrowing down which images to put up here because I love them all. I know the mom is keeping these pictures a surprise for the holiday, but I hope she loves them all too! Last Sunday I had the pleasure of walking around Longwood Gardens and photographing yet another lovely family. The two little boys, Connor and Evan, are adorable and look at their fabulous outfits! Mom sure knows how to coordinate clothes!! I love these colors! Connor definitely kept me on my toes and loved climbing and playing hide and seek in the trees. This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing another lovely family. I had talked with the mother, Betsy, a couple months prior and discussed setting up a time for a family session but she was a bit busy prepping for her younger sister's beautiful wedding. Once she had a plan, we settled on a late October session, after the wedding, and it turned out to be the perfect time! The colors are gorgeous now and it was still warm enough out not to worry about too many layers. We met at a nearby park where, as you can see, the beautiful colors just reflected off the water and it made for some great pictures. The morning light was so soft and warm also. Little Evelyn and Vivian, and of course their parents, were so great and fun to work with! Evelyn, being 2 (almost 3!), certainly kept me on my toes! And poor Vivian was just getting her first teeth in, so she didn't want to be away from mom. (You can read all about it on mom's fun-to-read blog: How to Succeed In Parenting Without Really Trying). But, because it's my job, we still managed some awesome family photos! There's a reason why it's called the golden hour, just look at this gorgeous sun! I love shooting in the mornings when the sun is just coming up or in the evenings when it is just going down. No harsh shadows, just beautiful golden light. Add in 3 adorable boys and their fabulous parents, and it makes for one perfect photo shoot! Jamie and Sean may have their hands full with 3 energetic, yet sweet and adorable boys, but they were great during our session and so much fun! I'm sure these will be portraits their family will treasure for years to come. Blake isn't always very willing to get in front of the camera. In fact, he usually just runs away. But, thankfully all I had to do was tell him we were going outside to "play" and he could have a lollipop, and he sat still long enough to let me take his picture. I loved every minute of it! He has the most stunning blue eyes, which really sparkle in the sun. These are some pictures I took in our backyard on the 4th of July. It's no Longwood Gardens, but it's great for outdoor pictures with its ivy, archways, stone walls, and plethora of greenery. On Sunday I had the absolute pleasure to walk around Longwood Gardens with Leah and her two daughters, Amelia and Nezzie. Amelia, at only 10 years old, is such a beautiful, intelligent, creative girl, wise beyond her years. She was also an easy, cooperative subject to photograph! Plus, her little sister, Nezzie is just one of the cutest baby girls with her big, dark eyes! She stayed awake the whole time we were there and didn't cry once! Leah was hesitant to be in the pictures, but I'm so glad I was able to talk her into it! It's incredibly important for moms and dads to be in the portraits with their children because it's a treasure for them to look back at the photographs and remember their parents - they won't see wrinkles, blemishes, or the baby weight you can't seem to lose, just love and memories.
