Frequently Asked Questions About In-Home Sessions
When should I book my newborn session?
Please try to contact me by the third trimester so I can get you on the calendar. I know birth dates are not exact, but it will give me a general idea of when the baby is expected. If I can accommodate a last minute session, I am happy to, but I can't always guarantee I will have availability as I often book up a month or more in advance.
When will the session take place?
Newborn sessions take place when the baby is ideally 2-6 weeks old. Since babies' birthdates are unpredictable, I ask all my clients to contact me within 48 hours after birth to set-up a definitive session date. We will try to plan the timing around when your home gets the most natural light.
Where will the session take place?
Lifestyle newborn sessions are done in your home, usually in the nursery, the master bedroom, and/or the living room.
How long will the session last?
Sessions will last up to 1.5 hours.
Will you bring props?
If you'd like some relax posing images on the white backdrop as seen above, I will bring my lighting, my posing bag, and the blankets. I do have some white outfits and wraps I will bring, but you are welcome to dress your baby in something simple from your own home if you prefer.
What should I wear?
For your portion of the portraits, I always recommend parents, and siblings, stick to neutrals and something simple and comfortable. But, ultimately these are your images so you can wear what you want. I'm happy to offer opinions prior to your session if you lay out clothes.
What if my newborn gets hungry?
All sessions are guided by my little clients and I completely understand that they eat on demand so we can take breaks during the session as needed. If you would like feeding/nursing pictures in your gallery, we can definitely do that!

What will happen after the session?
After your portrait session, I will start working on preparing your gallery and 3-10 days later, we will have your Viewing & Ordering Appointment. This is when you will get to see all your beautiful images, choose your favorites, and decide how you would like to proudly display them in your home!
