"We booked Kristen for newborn pictures just as things started to open back up from the lockdown. Her professionalism and attention to detail, especially in this weird time, were second to none. She made sure we all felt “safe” and comfortable..and everything was SO clean. She took our pictures when I was about a week postpartum. As everyone is, I was tired, stressed, and not feeling my prettiest. My husband and Kristen convinced me to be in a few pictures, even though I really didn’t want to. I am SO happy I listened because (due to Kristens magic) they are my absolute favorite pictures of our little family, and I will cherish them forever." – Megan F.
NOTE: Maternity sessions are only offered in conjunction with newborn sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I have maternity pictures done?
Maternity pictures are best done between 30-34 weeks when a woman has a nice round belly, without feeling too uncomfortable yet. However, this date could be earlier for those expecting multiples or who are anticipating an early delivery.
When should I book my maternity session?
Please contact me at least three months ahead of time. I can occasionally accommodate a last minute session, but typically I book up at least a month in advance.
How long will the session last?
Maternity sessions can be done as simple 30-45 minute sessions in the studio or outdoors.
Where will my session take place?
Maternity sessions can take place indoors year-round as well as outdoors from March-November.
When will my session take place?
Studio maternity sessions are scheduled Monday-Friday during the daytime. Outdoor maternity sessions are scheduled ~1 hour before sunset.
What should I wear?
I have a variety of different maternity dresses (pale blue, blush pink, white/cream, gray, black, and champagne colored) for you to wear for your session. You will be able to see them in person when you come in for your pre-session consultation. However, if you choose to wear your own outfit or pose nude, that is fine too!
How much does a session cost?
The session fee is $100 and prints and products are sold separately at the Viewing & Ordering appointment. Clients receive the complimentary matching digital files for anything they order in any print (aka hard copy) form. There are 6 collections that range from $990-3190, plus an la la carte list, and clients typically invest $1000+ at the Viewing & Ordering appointment on their wall art, albums or collection boxes. These sessions are add-ons to newborn sessions. Hair and make-up can be arranged for an additional cost. For more information, please visit the Investment & Art page.
What will happen after the session?
After your portrait session, I will start working on preparing your gallery and 3-10 days later, we will have your Viewing & Ordering Appointment. This is when you will get to see all your beautiful images, choose your favorites, and decide how you would like to proudly display them in your home!
Do you have any options for clients who aren't interested in printed products or have a lower budget?
I feel very passionately about helping clients to have tangible, long-lasting, high-quality, heirloom prints and products that they can enjoy now and that can get passed down through generations rather than images just living on a computer or cloud somewhere. However, I do offer sessions for clients who have no interest in printed work. These are my SIMPLICITY SESSIONS. For these, there is a $350 all-inclusive fee, meaning that cost covers the ~10-15 minute studio session and 10 digital images of your choice. Additional digital images can be purchased at $50/ea. One backdrop, plus backlit shots and moms have access to studio wardrobe. Images will be chosen immediately after the session (allow approximately 30 minutes for this). Clients can include their partner in some poses for an additional $50 and/or add their children in for some poses for $50 too.
Interested in a completely FREE maternity session?
EVERY client who books a full, customized newborn session with LBP will receive a completely FREE studio maternity session. Session will be 15 minutes in length and mom-to-be will get to choose 5 digital images from their session immediately at the end. Those digital images will be edited and sent to the client within 72 business hours.
