"I can't recommend Little Blooms Photography enough! This was the absolute best experience, and I'm so glad we chose Kristen. She's professional, experienced, kind, patient and extremely talented. The props she uses are adorable, and I was amazed at how she was able to get the shots she did while keeping my little girl asleep. The pictures of our Lily are phenomenal, and we get compliments left and right on them. If you're on the edge about getting newborn photos done, I would definitely say do it, Kristen will not disappoint!!" - April K.
"We just used Kristen for the first time to photograph our newborn son. I cannot even begin to express how overly impressed I am with her as a photographer as well as a person! I saw her photos even before I was pregnant and saved her name because I knew that I wanted her to be our photographer. On the day of the session, she gave us a detailed schedule to follow to ensure the perfect pictures and a sleepy baby. She took the stress and guesswork out of the entire process. Kristen is beyond professional and organized from the very first meeting and exceeded all of our expectations all the way through to the presentation of our finished products (prints, frames, etc). The pictures are absolutely AMAZING!!! The experience from start to finish was fabulous with her! There are a lot of photographers out there, but I have never met anyone like her! Kristen is truly the BEST photographer around!" - Kristen S

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I book my newborn session?
Please try to contact me by the third trimester so I can get you on the calendar. I know birth dates are not exact, but it will give me a general idea of when the baby is expected. If I can accommodate a last minute session, I am happy to, but I can't always guarantee I will have availability as I often book up a month or more in advance.
When will the session take place?
Newborn sessions take place when the baby is ideally 1-3 weeks old, although this can be extended for Simple Studio newborn sessions where baby stays wrapped the entire session. Timing is important for the Little Bloom newborn sessions because at this age, the babies are much sleepier and flexible and enjoy being curled up in the poses. Since babies' birthdates are unpredictable, I ask all my clients to contact me within 48 hours after birth to set-up a definitive session date. All newborn sessions are scheduled for 9:30am on weekdays.
Where will the session take place?
Newborn sessions are done at my in-home studio. In light of Covid-19, there are extensive safety measures in place here including a HEPA filtration system and extensive cleaning/sanitization before and after every session. I am also fully vaccinated and boosted for extra protection.
How long will the session last?
The Little Bloom posed session lasts up to 3 hours and includes 3 props as well as 3-4 poses on the posing table. These poses will include a mix of full body, close ups, profile images, and those tiny details you never want to forget! Parents and siblings are included free of charge.
What if I just want a couple of quick pictures of my newborn?
For clients who are looking for a shorter session, dedicated to a few simple portraits of only their newborn, they have the option to book a Simple Studio session. This session lasts 45-60 minutes and focuses on capturing the little details of their newborn in 3-4 different poses. This session does not include parent or sibling poses.
Do I need to bring any props or outfits?
Not at all! I have a LARGE collection of props, blankets, hats, headbands, and swaddles, so you do not need to bring your own. However, if you have something specific that you would like included (a blanket, a certain stuffed animal, etc), please let me know ahead of time so I can find a way to incorporate it.
What should I wear?
For your portion of the portraits, I always recommend parents stick to the SAME neutral pallete for shirts. Both parents in plain white/cream tops are ideal, but black, gray, blue, or pink will work too. Avoid logos, patterns, and bright colors. We want to keep the focus on baby. Your pants do not matter as they will not be in the pictures, although the bottoms of siblings will usually be seen. I do have a collection of dresses here for moms to wear if they would like. Parents will also have plenty of time to get ready since the family portion is always done toward the end of the session.
What should older siblings wear?
Big sisters should wear a neutral, solid colored dress or shirt. Big brothers should wear jeans or khakis and a nice, neutral plain shirt. Again, avoid logos, patterns, and bright colors. We want to keep the focus on the baby. I do have a collection of outfits for children to wear, up to size 5T, so you are not required to bring any outfits for them.
What if my newborn gets hungry?
All sessions are guided by my little clients and I completely understand that they eat on demand. I have plenty of space for feeding as well as a boppy or bottle warmer as needed.
How much does a session cost?
The session fee is $300 and prints and products are sold separately at the Viewing & Ordering appointment. Clients receive the complimentary matching digital files for anything they order in any print (aka hard copy) form. Individual prints begin at $190, collections range from $990-3190, and clients typically invest $1800+ at the Viewing & Ordering appointment on their wall art, albums or collection boxes. For more information, please visit the Investment & Art page.
What will happen after the session?
After your portrait session, I will start working on preparing your gallery and 3-10 days later, we will have your Viewing & Ordering Appointment. This is when you will get to see all your beautiful images, choose your favorites, and decide how you would like to proudly display them in your home!

"We couldn't have been more happy with the beautiful work Kristen has done with our newborn photo session. I knew from the minute we had our first meeting that I could put my mind at ease! Our baby girl was in great hands. My husband and I were so pleased with the quality, hospitality, options, professionalism, and kindness that Little Blooms offered us and our family. It was such a treat to see Kristen in the works, she is the baby whisperer! The moment we saw our photographs for the first time, and every time since, tears have been brought to our eyes" - Heather B.
