2023 Lavender Fine Art Sessions
Thank you so much for your interest in a Lavender Field session!
Please read ALL the details below and fill out a form, which is at THE VERY BOTTOM of this page.
1) WHERE/WHEN: Sessions will take place from 6:30pm-8:15pm on Thursday, June 29th (rain date Friday, June 30th) at Mt. Airy Lavender Farm located at 123 Mt Airy Road in Coatesville, PA 19320. This is approximately 45 minutes from my home studio in Chadds Ford.
2) RAIN: I will be watching the weather forecast closely and make the decision for a rain cancellation by 5:30pm. I will send a text message and email out to everyone letting them know. If the rain looks like it is going to hold off, but then begins in the middle of the sessions, I will let everyone know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
3) RAIN DATES: If it is going to rain on Thursday, June 29th, the rain date is scheduled for Friday, June 30th. If you cannot make BOTH dates, please do not sign up for a session.
4) HOW LONG: Sessions are 15 minutes long and scheduled back to back. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can park, get yourselves ready, and walk to the field (you'll see the field as soon as you pull in). If you are late, your session will be cut short out of courtesy for others. Your money is non-refundable if you fail to show, or fail to get there on time as I have turned others away to reserve your time spot.
5) WHO: Each time slot is for 1 family, up to 5 people. Each additional person is $50+tax. These sessions are great for children, families, and maternity sessions. If for any reason you do not feel that we will be able to capture your family in that time frame, you are welcome to sign up for back-to-back time slots, but will need to pay booking fees for both.
NOTE: I HIGHLY encourage you to consider if this is the right session for your family and children. Because the sessions take place at sunset, at the longest daylight time of the year, this can be late for some little ones. If your child still takes long/late naps, or is used to going to bed after 8pm, then this time frame will likely work. If your child is consistently going to bed around 7pm and you are unable to get the 6:30pm time slot, please think about how your child will respond to the later night. Some kids handle it well, and others don't. You know your child best! We want happy, cooperative babies/children and don't want to make them do something when they are tired and cranky, or over-tired and all-hyped up (this is how my own kids were).
6) BEES: Yes, there will be bees at the field. In 8 years of photographing in flower fields (both sunflowers and lavender), I have yet to have a client get stung during a session. The bees are much more interested in the flowers then us, and because I shoot in the evenings, they move slower and start to get sleepy. However, if you or anyone in your household is highly allergic to bee stings, please consider your safety first.
7) FINE ART IMAGES: Please note that the editing process that goes into these lavender field sessions is quite extensive. The fields DO NOT look as purple as you would think due to the type of lavender that is planted here (see examples above). The lavender plants are actually mostly green. However, each image you choose will be edited in a fine art style to enhance the purple and make a statement as a printed piece in your home.
8) ONLINE PROOF GALLERY: Your images will available for you to see via an online proof gallery, which will be sent to you within 14 business days. All of the images will be unedited, the exception of 1 so you will be able to get an idea of the fine art style.
9) WHAT TO WEAR: I suggest white/cream, tan/beige, gray/greige, purples, pastel pink, and pastel blue. Avoid patterns and logos. See some examples of what to wear in the above images. Moms - if you are going to be in the pictures, it's always a good idea to start with your outfit, one that makes you feel your best! I love flowy dresses, maybe even a sun hat or flower crown. The same outfit idea applies to girls, although they also look adorable in shorter dresses or rompers. Dads and boys can be in a causal white/cream/pale blue polo or button up shirt with jeans or khakis. Here are some other great examples - www.pinterest.com/little_blooms/lavender-field-what-to-wear/ It's never to start planning your outfits and I'm happy to help with that, just ask! We can look at what you already have in your closest or what you are interested in buying.
10) COST: The upfront, booking fee is $350+tax. This covers the fee to use the property, includes a 15 minute session, an online proof gallery from which to choose your images, and 3 high-resolution digital images of your choice from your gallery. Because sessions are booked on a first-come-first-serve basis, as soon as I confirm your time, I will send you over a PayPal invoice. Payment is due within 24 hours or your spot will be reopened, no exceptions. Additional digital files are $50/ea.
11) CONTRACT: A contract must be signed before your session. I will email you the contract and you will need to send it back electronically, via snail mail, or bring it with you to the session.
