my approach
I love to capture kids doing what they do best – being themselves. In order to do this, I feel the simplest approach is best. I prefer to shoot pictures on location, outdoors where children are the most free to explore and discover. I simply follow them as they play and, in doing so, create natural portraits that truly show your child’s individuality.
on location
The location can be someplace special around town (like Zilker Gardens*, UT campus, the Capitol, etc.) or someplace as simple as your own backyard or well-lit room at home. Natural lighting and backgrounds create an ideal setting for those frame-able memories.
(* Please note that some locations, such as Zilker Gardens, require a fee for professional photographer sessions. This will be added to your session fee if one of these locations is requested. Please contact me for details.)
what to wear
Dress your child comfortably in mostly solid, neutral colors and in clothes that allow them to move and play. Feel free to bring a favorite toy or lovey, or items that express your child’s interests (as long as you don’t mind them being photographed!). If more than one child or family member will be photographed, it’s best to dress them in similar colors.
preparation
Prior to the session, I will contact you to discuss any requests or other specifics you would like to have included in the photographs. I also like to take this time to find out more about your family - likes, dislikes, interests - to create a friendly rapport and allow for a more relaxed session. At this time, I will also provide you with a contract and a release form to be signed prior to the session.
Please reschedule at least 48 hours before the shoot. I understand that children get sick, and you do not always have advance notice, but please remember that I have reserved time to work with you and your child and I appreciate notice of any change as early as possible.
